- Mix oil paints with Turpentine (only need a little oil paint) lets say, around 1 tspn turps to tip of an Popsicle stick of oil paint.
- Pour onto water ( I have used a roller paint tray here) mixed gently to merge colours
- Lay paper on top of water and slowly pull up.
- Go forth and create, and remember... experiment... for to do is to learn!!
A few weeks ago I said I would do a blog on how to marble or add a dye surface to paper... So finally this is it!

Years ago when I was living in Auckland I went to a creative class how to make my own stamps. These are not them, but I do have them some where. I needed a stamp recently, so I hunted out some kids rubbers and made my own. Medthod
Happy Creating.

Bed HeadFor YEARS I have been wanting to make a head board, and I have finally done it...
It was much easier than I thought.. well kinda!! I made a few mistakes (learning curves)
So to remedy this I bought the timber in photo two from a recycled timber yard. I think it cost me $2 maybe, I did buy several other items.
But all in all I am happy it is a welcome addition for my personal space! So another week or so on I thought I would plaster and paint the board surround... hmmm not sure if I like it.. oh well time will tell..
Ok, so much for my blog every week...too busy with Martinborough Fair, Commission work & Resin pouring workshops. BUT A new year does bring new ideas and I have a few to say the least, so here is one to start with, one that I have found the time to put into practice and finalise all that need to be done to get it to that, teaching stage. So going with a new year a new idea, one of my new workshops is ... To make this beautiful textured torso . This is generally a 4 week workshop held in my home studio. But in March, I was very lucky to go back to Book Art Studios in Auckland... I went back to visit a previous group of lovely ladies that did one of my resin workshops. This was a one day condensed workshop, and it was fantastic. We did so much more ... Everyone came out with a small medium and large torso, a word of their choice and a heart. I even found the time to show the lovely group of ladies how to make their own ceramic type tiles and give a quick sample of a new fast set resin I am stocking. Is this something you would like to do? Being on the move again I thought it was time to finish a couple of projects that I had around the house. The vase I brought for 50cents, the statue $7.99 at the Warehouse. This is just going to be a very simple how get this effect. All very easy, couple of layers of paint, a lime wash and a sand and you are done! Hot on the heals of my pinterest post! This is one of the little gems I discovered. I made these for marketing my business at a local social media met up! So keeping true with social media medium I did a scratch and win card with a QR code underneath. Quite in ingeniousness I think. But maybe that is just me.
This is how you do it
Go on give it a go! |
